Finally! RV time once again.

The weather here in the BC lower mainland has been amazing for the last few days and is expected to continue for a little while.  We are taking advantage of it and heading across the border to spend some time in the RV.  Hubby went down yesterday to set up the RV and de-winterize it.  It takes a little time to flush out the water lines and do a little 'spring cleaning' before we are ready to enjoy the camping season.  We always find lots of dead flies in the shower area.

 

We will spend a couple of weeks at The Cedars RV Resort in Ferndale, WA.  We know there are quite a few RV friends there already so it will be nice to visit with them and hear all about their winter months.  This week-end is Easter and I'm not sure if we will see Jade or not as her dad isn't to keen on crossing the border on a long week-end.  Oh well - soon enough we can see her and give her the 'goodies' we have for her.

I think we should have gone south...

Well, it's almost March and we still have no answers from all the medical tests.  I know that it is risky to head south knowing that our travel medical insurance wouldn't cover any related problems but staying home and getting no answers is very frustrating.  We now must wait until the next Specialist appointment which is the beginning of April.  This is rediculous!  We are both very anxious to get away so I sure hope that March brings warmer and dryer weather.  Right now - we plan the first trip to the RV at the end of March. 

I'm so jealous of all those Snowbirds down south.

The weather here the last week has been cold!  We've had major FOG the last few days and when conbined with the cold temperatures - I feel like I'm living in a fog.  We are going to warm up a little but along with that comes the rain.  The weather in California, Arizona and Nevada looks like it has warmed up and the Snowbirds are finally getting the sun and warmth that they went searching for.  I'm so jealous!!!  I would love to be sitting outside the RV enjoying the warmth and soaking up the vitamin D.

On a positive note:  Louis has completed all his medical tests now so we just wait to visit the specialist on February 5th and hopefully get some answers and solutions.  Maybe, just maybe, we can still find time to get away for a short trip.  *fingers crossed*

RV Trip has been cancelled!

Unfortunately after today's appointment with the specialist, we realized that we won't be able to head south.  Louis has been told that he needs to have a variety of more indepth tests and they probably won't be completed before the end of February.  If all is completed earlier - we may revisit a shorter trip but time will tell.

Departure date has been delayed.

They say that when making plans - be flexible.  Well, we have had to push our travel dates back by at least a week and maybe even longer.  Louis has developed some medical issues that required quite a few tests and changes to existing medications.  We now have to wait on weekly blood tests until the numbers are back up to the acceptable range.  Now we play the waiting game!

Our original plan was to leave Ferndale, WA on Saturday, January 5th but it now looks like if we are lucky, we could leave on January 13th.  *fingers crossed*.    I will keep some of our reservations until I find that I need to change them.

Do I take a sewing/embroidery machine or not?

With only 4 weeks until we head south, I'm really torn in my decision to take a sewing machine with me.  Because we will be gone for 2 months like when we went to Alaska, I'm sure I will miss my sewing.  So, do I take a small sewing (only) machine or do I take a sewing/embroidery machine?

With mostly 1 week stays at various locations, will I want to spend time sewing or will I want to be out exploring?  I was thinking that maybe I would just take the small sewing machine and some smaller projects.  That way I can still sew if I have the urge but it wouldn't take up nearly as much room as if I took the sewing/emb. machine with all it's extras.  Will I kick myself?  I hope not!

As this is our first 'Snowbird' trip of what I hope will be many - I am expecting that we will learn a lot more about what we should and shouldn't take south.  We always tend to take way more than we need when we travel.
