A Rest Day in Watson Lake

Tuesday, August 7th – is a rest day so while most people are doing laundry and checking their vehicles, we went and did a little exploring around town.  The claim to fame for Watson Lake is the Sign Post Forest.

We strolled through the thousands of signs from everywhere and then went through the Visitor’s Centre which had many displays of the building of the Alaska Highway.  We also stopped into the town food store and bought some fresh bakery bread.  Prices on most things are very high but if you need it – you buy it!
One of the guys driving an MV is named Terry Pitts, he and Muriel combined their talents to make a huge pot of soup for dinner.  Yum Yum Yum.

At 8pm we had a driver’s meeting because in the morning, the MVs will be heading up the Campbell Hwy. to Ross River and the majority of the support vehicles will be staying on the Yukon Hwy. 1 up to Whitehorse.  On Wednesday all vehicles are expected to meet up at noon and then continue to Pelly Crossing.  At 9pm as the meeting was winding up – we were treated to thunder, lightning and heavy rain.
