Buckinghorse River Lodge to Toad River Lodge

Sunday morning, August 5th we were up early and after getting some air in one of the tires on Muriel’s toy hauler, we pulled out at 6:30 heading for Toad River Lodge.  Our morning break was at an old air strip just off the main highway.  We pulled in there with the “B” Support Unit and discovered that the same tire had a slow leak as we could hear the air coming out.  We waited for the first Column of MV’s to arrive and they quickly replace the tire with a spare.

Entrance to the 'old airstrip'.

Back on the highway and we were headed for our lunch break at Fort Nelson.  We fuelled up when we arrive and then met the other Convoy personal at the Elks Hall for a great bag lunch that was provided for us.

After leaving Fort Nelson the roads became much more winding and hilly.  We saw 2 small caribou on the road and some of the views were spectacular.

One little Cariboo.

We pulled into Toad River Lodge at about 2:30, topped up with fuel and then went and hooked up the RV to power and water for the night.  We had a nice chicken dinner at the RV and went down to the lake to see a huge moose in the lake taking a bath.  He was on the far side so my camera couldn’t get a close enough photo.  We called it an early night.  Nice campground right beside the lake.
